About

My name is Aaron Brazell and I’ve been in the WordPress world since 2004.

I have worked on four startups, all WordPress-based – first, as the Director of Technology for b5media, then working with WordPress bloggers to integrate the Lijit search widget (recently acquired by Federated Media. Later, I started WP Engine, a premiere, optimized WordPress hosting solution, with Jason Cohen – himself a successful entrepreneur.

I am a core contributor to WordPress, creating the underpinnings of what would become the SSH file system class used in one-click installs, collaborating on the Daylight Saving Time Time Zone integration in WordPress among other things. I have had at least some code in every single WordPress release since 2.5.

I am an advocate for open source technologies and base all of my work on Subversion or Git.

Otherwise, I’m eating tacos, watching Ravens or Longhorns football, Maryland basketball, Red Sox baseball or drinking Texas craft beer.
